I wish I got that project...

Anyone realised that MAS has got their online e-commerce web site up-and-runnning? I read from a reader's comment at Screenshots that this web site needs some RM20 millions for this 5-year project. Well, I did not do any further searching to confirm on that amount, of course...

However, here, I would like to break down this cheese into its monthly value...

20 million for 5 years
1 year = 20/5 = 4 millions
1 month = 4/12 = 0.333.. million

Wow!! RM 333,333 a MONTH!! Where can you find such a bargain for e-commerce online system?? With this amount for each month, I can take out 20% of it and hire 20 programmers for this system!! What a good bargain huh?

I wish I have the chance to bid for that project... I could have bid for the project with the amount that is less than RM20 million...

Take a look at that online site and judge if you could do the same, or even a better one with that amount of resource each month!!

*sigh*

Project misfortune?

Here is the case.

X and Y, good friends, did a project together as their course's major project. In between the start and end of the project, the progress was not that good. Not that good as in the communication, the team work, etc...

Communication was not good because X did not stay at the lab with Y during the project development period. At first, however, X did move to the lab and work together but after some time, X decided not to continue to stay at the lab. X moved back to his/her house to continue with the project without stating a valid reason to Y.

Now time was near for a final demo of the project outcome to lecturers. Tensions felt as every single second ticked as it was also a test week. The night before the demo, X suddenly told Y that there were some changes to the project that need Y to also make his/her changes so as to match with X's modification. Y got suprised and tensed, and therefore X offered to prepare the changes for Y. Both stayed up until early morning that day and X finally passed the changes to Y and asked Y to make sure that the changes was OK. Y said that he/she will check later...

X actually has a test the next morning and therefore X continued with his/her study to prepare for the test with the remaining few hours. The next morning came and the test was actually before the demo. Therefore, X went for the test first but did badly. After the test, X went back to meet with Y for the demo. At that time, the lecturers were there and X found out that Y was panicking. When Y saw X, Y shouted at X asking why the changes did not work? Later, Y reverted back to his/her previous state, that is before the changes, and so the demo started. As expected, it was a bad demo despite an interesting project.

Until now, I still think back and try to figure out what has gone wrong with it, with the project? Unfortunately, I couldn't judge the case rationally... as there are just too much opinions inside my heads...

Period.

Fact and Opinion?

Fact is a word that is used or implied to a particular situation that exists.

Opinion is a feeling or thoughts about somebody/something, rather than a fact.

Take an example, X and Y work under the same company. X feels that Y will put X's career in danger. Therefore, X did something to prevent Y before Y has the chance to do so. Now this "did something" is very general and can be anything. Let me just name that something as setting up a plan to end Y's career in that company before Y can put X's career in danger.

One day, X successfully accomplished what he had planned and Y was fired by the company.

As a reader of this situation, how would you judge the act of X? Should X do what he did to stop Y before Y can do what X feels that Y will do to X that will put X in danger?

The fact is X did something to get rid of Y from that company. However, what X feels is merely an opinion that isn't a fact yet. That is to say, what X felt might not be true at all. X might be wrong but X just does not like it to be true.

From here, how should human handle this type of problem? Should we act on fact or on opinion? Should X wait until Y actually did what X felt before X do something on it? Is it too late to take action if we wait for something to become a fact?

Note: Do not limit it to just the above situation where the outcome is bad. As a yin-and-yan believer, I feel that sometime we should act based on fact and sometime we should act based on opinion. The question is "When to act based on fact and when to act based on opinion"?

Any idea?? I am sorry if it doesn't come out clear to you. =)

An "unlucky" lunch experience...

[Updated]

Today, was happy to know that a restaurant will be doing some lunch offer. All the lunch set will be applied with a 100yen discount. Therefore, I gathered a few colleagues to go and have a lunch together at that place - DON'A Spaghetti.

12 o'clock hit, met with my colleagues and we, the trio, head to that restaurant not far away from our office building, just a few minutes walk. Reached the shop and made our order as usual.

After a while, the waiter came with our drinks and salads. Orange juice for one of my colleague, and the other two drinks went to my body. Yes, my body I said. The waiter spilled the drinks onto my body!! Shirt completely wet plus a few small wet spot to my jean. My body filled with the smell of "Oolong Tea".

The waiter then brought some cloths for me to wipe my wet body but that didn't help much. Well, gave up with that, and sat myself down waiting for the lunch to come. In my mind, I was hoping for a free lunch... hehe.

Since my shirt won't dry itself for the next hour or two and I felt uncomfortable while having my lunch, therefore decided to go and buy a shirt to change. I went out from the restaurant for a while to a shop nearby to get myself a change but it seems that the prices were too expensive for such a substitute task. Therefore, gave up again and headed back to the restaurant.

Atmosphere remained the same without tense and we still continued to talk and joke around while having our lunch. Well, no point in keeping that incident in mind, right?

Finished the lunch, and walked to the cashier counter to make the payment. Everything went as usual - make payment and leave. Err, what about my free lunch? *stop dreaming*

After that, I went to UniQlo to get myself a change. Shops bearing that name are well known for cheap and good quality shirts. Yup, although cheap, the quality are still up to the standard. Well, when I say cheap, please keep the word "relative" in mind. After some fashion consideration, bought one and got back to the office. At the office, changed my shirt and got back to work as normal.

While the restaurant was doing an offer, the overall expense, for me, for that meal was:

Lunch = 660yen (Lunch set (580yen after 100yen discount) + Garlic toast (80yen))
Shirt = 790yen
Total = 1450yen

This was no offer. Today's Friday, and yet it was not as good as the day should look and feel. Hmm, what a day...

Update
Realised that I like the shirt that I have just bought, might buy another one later... haha.

Another exit in Athens...

Ai-chan is good but her opponent is better

Stayed up at 12:00 am, yesterday, to watch the table tennis match between Ai-chan and Kim from Korea. Kim, ranked 6th in the world, played with a patient technique and Ai-chan wasn't patient enough to follow this slow pace. I can feel that the way Ai-chan plays is more to the aggresive attack and not slow and patient play.

I think that her opponent caught her with that technique as I didn't see Kim attacked much, but just played with the "ball cutting" style - that is to say, slow. On the other hand, Ai-chan wasn't that patient enough with that playing style of Kim. It was clearer when the point gap was wide. When Kim leaded, Ai-chan tried to catch up for an equaliser by playing it fast. Most of the time, it caught up with the net or off the table. When she tried to hurry herself, it ended up with misses here and there. Since I am not an expert in table tennis, I am not sure if this was a trap set by Kim for Ai-chan or it was a miss by Ai-chan.

After losing the first two set with 8-11, and 5-11, Ai-chan got a hold on the third set and won the set with 11-7. Then came the fourth set which I think was a great and exciting set, and actually a decisive set for Ai-chan, spiritually. With just another point for Kim to end the set while Ai-chan was 2 points behind Kim, 8-10, Ai-chan fought back to make a deuce. From that point onwards, both catched up with each other until a point where the score was 13-13. Kim then took the advantage point to get to 13-14, and won the set with 13-15.

To Ai-chan, the fourth set was an important set because if she lost this set, it will weaken her mentally. A 2-2 result was surely better than 1-3 for her, mentally. And with the fourth game lost, Kim continued to grab the fifth set to end the match with 1-4. With that result, Kim proceeds to the quarter final.

While it was a sad result, it was actually a good match from the point of view of a spectator. However the result is, try harder next time!

Ganbatte Ai-chan... starts to focus on the next Beijing 2008 Olympic rather than dragging yourself with the result.

Early exit in Athens...

Malaysia's badminton challenge ended

While I was trying to read the Olympics news for Malaysia's badminton result, I was suprised and shocked when I saw a news title : "End to Malaysian challenge for badminton glory".

Yesterday, the dreams for Malaysia to challenge for gold vanished as none of the Malaysia's shuttlers survived the second round match at the Goudi Olympic Hall.

Singles as well as the doubles lost in their second round encounter.

Wong Choong Hann lost to Taufik Hidayat with 15-11, 7-15, 9-15. This might be his last appearance for the Games and it's a sad thing to know that he couldn't make it to the final stage.

Damn it... with sadness. Period.

A long and tiring journey...(4)

The return of the loser

Journey ends?! Not so fast, we still have to get back down to the 5th stage. And that was the most torturing part of all. Going down was a lot more difficult than going up because of the steepness. If you happen to slip, you might then find yourself sliding along with the steepness, which is very dangerous. With the strong wind too, it was not something to underestimate. We had to be more careful.

The journey down took longer than we have expected, and it was a dragging one, especially after we reached the 7th stage. From 7th stage we followed a path which was filled/laid with mud (because of the rain) and we had been dragging on for more than 2 hours (if my memory was still good at that time)!! 2 hours of torture was the worst of all that we had encountered so far. I fell for a number of times and my shoe filled with these stupid mud.

The hope of meeting the end point was a torture too at that moment. We were worried that we had been following the wrong path but we better not because I won't be climbing up again. We had no choice, since we were stuck in between. It wasn't advisable to climb back up and yet we doubted that our current path was the correct path to take to get back to 5th stage despite the sign boards that read "This way down". This was the greatest challenge of all, be it physically or mentally. Don't forget that it was still raining, and quite heavily it rained. Annoyed...

In addition to that, when I say "we" at this point, it was just the two of us. The other three had left us earlier down to 5th stage. Well, this time, it wasn't Ma and me, but one of Nesan's friend and me. He had to walk slowly because his leg couldn't follow his will to walk faster. Therefore, I stayed together with him.

Then, finally, we reached the stop point. God saved us! But yet it wasn't the 5th stage. We still need to continue for another 30 minutes to actually reach the 5th stage. This time, it was a hill-like track, which was my favourite. I like this type of track, just like the track when we get to Pantai Kerachut or Muka Head. Although my leg wasn't that obedient enough, but I can say that, my movement was faster and better than the time we climb up or down the mountain. That hill-like track was my nature, my energy and strength booster.

I actually peed somewhere right after I got into that hill track. Well, I had not been pee-ing for the whole journey and I couldn't refrain myself from pee-ing there. My pee seems a bit acidic. Not enough water taken in.

At last, with the hill track, it completed the journey, we reached the 5th stage, at around 11:50 am, and the three of them were there waiting for our return. We get ourselves into the car and suggested for a hotspring to wash the dirt away from our body.

Reaching the hotspring place, situated around the Mount Fuji area, felt like heaven to me. I enjoyed a relaxed and refreshing bath and laid myself naked in the hotspring pool.

Refreshment done, next is heading back to our home. Time 2:15 pm. Since I didn't wish to wear my mud-filled shoe, therefore I needed to get myself a new pair of sandals. Got one, and head to the train station.

Reached my station at around 5:15 pm, and treated myself an early dinner. No lunch for me that day. After the dinner, headed straight back to apartment and laid myself to the bed I have been longing for. No sleeping as yet because I switched on my television and watched the olympics baseball match : Japan vs Italy. Uehara was the pitcher until the 7th inning, without losing any points. Final result was 12-0, Japan won.

After that, continued to watch the drama "toubosha" (runaway man) but fell asleep in the middle of the drama. Woke up at around 12:15 am and watched the table tennis match : Ai Fukuhara vs Miao Miao from Australia. A tough match for Ai Fukuhara but won the match with 4-3 in the end.

A real good night after that... oyasumi nasai.

Mount Fuji - Don't think that I will be going for the second time

A long and tiring journey...(3)

The journey to the top

After we had prepared ourselves, we head to our starting point. Before we started, however, we had our dinner there but it was an expensive dinner for us. A regular "gyudon" is 800yen, while we can get the same "gyudon" with 290yen back in Tokyo. Well, sorry, actually "gyudon" is not been sold anymore, because of the mad cow disease. I wonder why "gyudon" is still been served there...

Stomach was full and we were ready for our journey. After confirming the correct starting point with other climbers around there, we started our journey. Time was 9:31 pm.

[climb... rest... climb]

Reached the first stop point - 6th stage. Forgot to take note of the time because, at that moment, all I think about was that I need a rest. I finally reached a stop point after a long tiring walk. Started to wonder why I put myself in such a tiring task? After a few minutes rest, we continued our journey to the next stop point. Still able to handle the coldness out there, therefore I still did not put on my sweater.

[climb... rest... climb]

Reached another stop point - 6.5th stage?! We are expecting it to be 7th stage but unfortunately it wasn't. Disappointed and felt like quitting. Coldness was still not a problem for me and therefore continued as usual.

[climb... rest... climb... a bit cold... decided to put on the sweater... climb]

Stopped challenging my naiveness, or stupidity. When other people say it is very cold, just listen to them!! This time, reached the 7th stage. However, only two out of five of us reached there at that time, another three were still struggling to reach 7th stage. After some rest, called my friend to see if we should wait for them at 7th stage. Answer given was a "It's OK, please continue without us..." and so we proceed to the next stop point.

[climb... rest... climb]

As usual reached another stop point - 7.5th stage. Stop for a small rest and continued.

[climb... rest... climb]

Again, reached the second last stop point - 8th stage. At that time, it was already 2:30 am. We will only have around 2 hours before sunrise. However, from 8th stage to the top of the mountain, it will take around 2 hours to reach, so we need to hurry ourselves. Although we needed to hurry up, we felt so hungry and therefore, I search for some cup noodle to eat. Found one and ordered. It costed me 600 yen!! That cup noodle will only cost me 150 yen. Another cut-throat businessman...

Since hungry, therefore ate the noodle. Share the hot soup with my junior, Ma. Feeling a bit warmer and got ourselves ready for the next struggle. Suddenly, bad news came... dark clouds were heading its way to Mount Fuji - rain is near. That's right, rain was about to fall and that's the second mistake/problem that I left out on the second part. Dreams came true... damn!!

Was asking my junior if he still wish to continue... "Yes, of course" was the reply. Hmm, a strong man but yet... However, we continued, yeah I am a fool too. The path was getting harder and harder.

[climb... rest... climb]

After a while, reached the final stop point - 9th stage. Didn't plan to stop for a long rest, and therefore continued after a minute or two break. Strong winds blew, bringing the soft sands together with it and attacked our eyes.

Nothing can be done with the strong wind, we needed to continue and we need ed to do it fast or else we will miss the sunrise... but will we be able to see the sunrise? Remember? It was still raining although not heavily...

Changed our objective to just reach the top of the mountain and see what type of a place it looks like.

[climb... rest... climb]

This path to the top was the most congested path ever met. A lot of people were heading to the top of the mountain at that moment, and that forced us to follow the flow of the progress, which is damn very slow. Helpless and useless to ask them to move faster and therefore we decided to move ourselves faster ahead, instead... meaning overtaking jobs was needed.

At that moment, legs felt heavy and weren't that obedient anymore. What a day, I should be sleeping at this time... why here climbing?

Some people, as impatient as us performed some spiderman stunts. We were no loser for that and therefore we followed... haha, we found it fun and exciting in spite of the pain and tiredness plus the danger.

Traffic was actually linked from the starting point at the 9th stage to the top of the mountain. If we were to follow the pace of the flow all the way up the mountain, we would have fallen asleep by then... therefore good decision made.

After an hour plus of spiderman stunts, we finally reached the top of the mountain!! However, we were shivering to death. Damn cold with the rain. The top was filled and covered with mist, visibility was not that clear. Rain wasn't stable but whatever it was, we headed to a stay house for a rest and warm ourselves up. At that time, it was 5:15 am.

At around 6:10 am, my colleague, Nesan, called. They will be reaching the top soon, and I replied that we will wait for them here at the top of the mountain. After around 20 minutes, I met up with them.

[to be continued...]

A long and tiring journey...(2)

The two mistakes

Not taking 138 and 150 seriously caused us our first mistake. Well, it is not that we don't care or pay much attention on these two exit points, but we didn't expect that missing the exit point will bring us misfortune. How?

We overshot the 150 exit point because of several reasons. One, the day was already dark and therefore our vision weren't that good. Two, the exit point sign board that bears the "150" exit point number is just too small for us not to miss it. Three, Nesan was speeding too fast for us to notice the exit point sign board.

Consequences? Only one, and yet a big one. Without realising that we missed the point, we continued to head on until after sometime, we agreed that we might be going on the wrong way. Therefore, Nesan did the 3-point turn stuff to get to the opposite route and headed back. On our way back, there were a lot of cars lining on the road - the traffic congestion. It took us more than 30 minutes following on that track. On our way fighting with the congestion, we noticed the exit point, and we yelled with happiness. Then, we made our turning and head to the mountain - the 5th stage.

The 5th stage is the place to start for most of the Mount Fuji climbers, it is located somewhere in the middle of the mountain hence the 5th stage. From 5th stage, we will need to pass through the 6th, 7th, 8th, and 9th stage, before we finally reach the top.

When we reached the 5th stage, we were lucky enough to get a parking space. After that, we get out from the car and shivered a bit as the temperature is not the like the summer temperature we are having now, but a genting-like temperature. Everyone, except me, transformed to their winter-look. I did not transformed myself just because I wish to see and challenge the temperature. Most of the climbers make note that we need to bring our winter clothes or sweater in order to climb the mountain because it is damn cold up there. I wish to know how true it is.

The second mistake was the weather. Although I got to know from the TV weather forecast prior to the climbing and noted that the weather is not so promising for climbing on that day, we ignored that. I will reveal the weather condition on the third chapter of the show - the journey to the top.

A long and tiring journey...(1)

A journey was about to start, an objective has been stated and the fellowship of the mission has been choosen. Five, instead of seven companions have been assigned to this not so important mission.

The fellowship of the mission

The companions' list:
1) Nesan :- a Sri Lankan who loves to drive his car during freetime.
2) Nesan's Friend 1 :- no comment
3) Nesan's Friend 2 :- no comment
4) Ma :- eager to join any mission and accepted this mission, without realising the danger of the mission.
5) Yee :- Hobbit-like creature, but not the bearer of the mission.

I have been suggesting on plans to go for a Mount Fuji exploration, to the top of the mountain. Now, since my colleague, Nesan, is planning to take two of his friends there, I applied and secured a seat. Ma, later, also applied for one and secured it.

We planned to start our expedition on last Saturday evening, 14th of August; Time: 6:00 pm. Our meeting point is the bus stop situated outside of Nagatsuda station. After everyone were there, we get into Nesan's car and started heading to our destination that will take us around 2 hours plus.

The path to get to Mount Fuji has been studied in the map. We know that we might encounter some danger - the traffic congestion. Therefore, we set for a safer route to Mount Fuji. The objective is to get to 138 via the Tomei expressway, and from 138, we will go to 150 which will lead us to the destination. 138??? 150??? Whatever, they don't matter...

Olympics 2004 in Athens

Tomorrow, 13th of August, is the opening ceremony for Olympics 2004 in Athens! And my company will be on holiday too! but not because of this Olympics event.

I really wish to be there and watch the events but I think I should *stop dreaming*!! Recently, I started to like baseball, thanks to Japan's live telecasts all this while, and I am going to support the Japan's baseball team. My favorite team member, one and only one for the moment:

1)Uehara Kouji (上原 浩治) - the pitcher.

Beside baseball, I will also support Japan's female volleyball team. Well, I supported this team since last year's world cup (for volleyball). However, I feel that they stand a very very small chance in getting a medal for Japan since the play quality is still quite far between them and other teams. They ranked 7 in the world and have to face the top 6 there. No special individual that I prefer inside this volleyball team, I support all the members from that team:

1)Ootomo Ai (大友 愛)
2)Oomura Kanako (大村 加奈子)
3)Ooyama Kana (大山 加奈)
4)Kimura Saori (木村 沙織)
5)Kurihara Megumi (栗原 恵)
6)Sasaki Miki (佐々木 みき)
7)Sugiyama Sachiko (杉山 祥子)
8)Takahashi Miyuki (高橋 みゆき)
9)Takeshita Yoshie (竹下 佳江)
10)Tsuji Chie (辻 知恵)
11)Narita Ikumi (成田 郁久美)
12)Yoshihara Tomoko (吉原 知子)

The final event that I will support for Japan is table tennis. "Ai-chan", age 15, will also be playing for Japan. She started to play table tennis at a very very young age, since she was at the age of 3!

1) Fukuhara Ai (福原 愛)

Lastly, I would not forget to support my country, Malaysia. For this, however, I will only support badminton event. My support will go for Wong Choong Hann. Unfortunately, his performance isn't that promising recently. His world rank dropped from 4th to 6th at the moment. Hope that he could perform well in this Olympics event and improve his world ranking.

1)Wong Choong Hann

I will pray for him...

Here goes my summary for the list of events that I am supporting:

1) Baseball - Japan
2) Volleyball - Japan
3) Table Tennis - Japan
4) Badminton - Malaysia

Let's see how many of the above events (or people) that I support will win a medal for their respective country...

Gotenks' profile

Gotenks is a fictional character in the Anime Dragon Ball Z. He is the result of Trunks and Goten fusing using the Fusion dance technique learned by Goku when he's at the other world.

One problem after the fusion has been completed is that their mother does not know what name to call this new character. At one time, Goten's mother wanted to call him as "Goten" while at other time, Trunks' mother wanted to call him as "Trunks" and so both mothers quarrelled against each other. Finally, they agreed on a new name. The name Gotenks is formed based on the name Goten combined with the last two characters from Trunks.

Gotenks is first formed when Goten is 7 and Trunks is 8, so the moves (or attack techniques) that the character devises are decidedly child-like and are often more about the "show" of the move, rather than effectiveness, such as Gotenks' Ghost [Kamikaze] Attack (funny technique and yet my favorite). During his fight with Evil Buu, Gotenks shows his immaturity when he does not transform into a Super Saiyan initially (before the fusion took place), in order to make the fight more dramatic. Their childish thought suggested that without the initial Super Saiyan form would just be enough to defeat the Evil Buu. Fusion with the Super Saiyan form would logically gives the fused character (which is Gotenks) more power and strength than normal fusion. As a result of their childish thought, it ultimately costs him the fight with Evil Buu.

Gotenks does however have the ability to go up to Super Saiyan 3, which is not seen in any other Human-Saiyan Halfbreeds. It should be noted however that this does not mean that Halfbreeds were incapable of reaching the level, just that it was not shown in any of the series. Although they are two Halfbreeds combined, this does not make up one Saiyan and one Human, rather it still equates to an exact Halfbreed, with 50% Saiyan blood and 50% Human blood.

Available Techinques:
1) Wild Boar Attack
2) Saiyajin Instinct
3) Death Missle Barrage
4) Dynamite Kick
5) Galactic Donut
6) Super Saiyajin
7) Continuos Die Die Missle
8) Super Ghost Kamikaze Attack
9) Super Ghost Kamikaze Attack 10 in one shot

A brief on Ghost Kamikaze Attack
It is where he makes ghost copies of himself with different personalities, and on impact (even touching each other) they explode.

Trivial knowledge...(3)

Digit from 1 to 9, when arranged together (in any sequence) to form a number, this number can be divided by 3. Each number can only appear for one time. Possible numbers are like:

123456789
987654321
412387596
984751362
etc...

These numbers can be divided by 3.

Let's try and see:
123456789 / 3 = 41152263 (divisible by 3)
987654321 / 3 = 329218107 (divisible by 3)
412387596 / 3 = 137462532 (divisible by 3)
984751362 / 3 = 328250454 (divisible by 3)

Reason
A number can be divided by 3 when the digits, added together, is a multiple of 3. For the above example, the added digits yield 45, which is a multiple of 3.

What happened this week?

This week, I have blogged about nothing except this one. Well, I have run out of idea on what to blog, it's just too hot over here. Therefore, I would call this week my summer holiday week. As a matter of fact, most of the people in Japan will take a week off around this time as their summer holiday. I am still here working...

As I have said earlier, since I have ran out of idea to blog, I would just do a recap of some happenings for this week :

1) Anand's recap
Anand's web log has just hit it's first 400 visit-level. Congratulation dude! However, I think that he was too happy that he forgot what he had done the next day, resulting in a webserver access problem. Luckily, he remembered and realised the error's source.

Geesh, please be more aware next time... humble guy!

2) Ee Fei's recap
Sorry to mention this but I have found a new-born fish flusher!! Yes, and that person is (not was), of course, Ee Fei. This week, too, she found herself with lots of "small" problems like broke a headphone, not enough sleep, loads of course-works awaiting, and sore throat, maybe.

Geesh, take good care of yourself... fish flusher!

3) Jase's recap
This week, less and less ranting on headless chicken but more on love analysis. While I am not sure what to say about your unlucky (or lucky?, well depends on which way you look at it) friend, but I think that your friend should just forget about her. The world is too big to only focus on that girl. Good luck to your friend.

Geesh, he is your friend, maybe you can do something... love-expert!

4) Nee Shen's recap
Nee Shen has had some bad experiences as a PC Fair's customer. Got a (or two) thumb drive and yet felt like being cheated at price. Now, he is a few bucks poorer with some hard feeling, I supposed.

My experience also tells me that the buying period is supposed to be on the final day, while the first two days are meant for researching the prices. However, I also did have the fear of missing the deal... that's the shit thing about PC Fair!

Geesh, hope you get a satisfying feel of your thumb drive(s)... poor guy!

5) Wennie's recap
She has been fully-controlled by her newly-found SMS boyfriend. This SMS boyfriend has fully hold control of her soul, her happiness, her feelings. While I am not sure who is the guy that you said has rejected you, but I think you have took it in a positive way.

Geesh, good luck to you in whatever you do... happy girl!

My apology
I would hereby apologise to the above people if you find that I had violated your personal life-style because of me recap-ing these in my post.

Wait what about my own stuff?

I have just successfully figured out a way to post a picture (but without any practical attempt as yet)! However, you should be able to notice that I linked a gotenks picture as my photo. I hope that it will work out fine when I want to include a picture in my future post.

Geesh, hope is the best way for life... genius!

ハハハ~...俺は天才だ! (Hahaha... ore ha wa tensai da!)
Simply means, "I'm genius!"

Halal-Non-Halal

Soon everything ends up non-halal

Depending on how you define the word non-halal, most of us will tend to take or believe that non-halal food are food that serves with pork. However, we could also apply the word non-halal to other religion too, if we wish to. While non-halal food for Muslim is pork, non-halal food for Buddhist or Hindu, on the other hand, is beef and non-halal food for a vegetarian then would be meat.

Therefore, if we were to serve only the halal food in Malaysia, it might end up serving nothing for our fellow guests of different religion and beliefs. Well, at least we can still serve vegetarian food to our guest, since every religion does not forbid vegetables.

And Malaysia might end up selling nothing other than vegetables, considering that we have a population with different religions and beliefs.

How funny is that...

Sekolah Kebangsaan Seri Mega, Kuala Lumpur

Few weeks ago, the headmaster of Sekolah Kebangsaan Seri Mega, Kuala Lumpur sends out letters, dated July 14, to parents asking them not to let their children to bring non-halal food into school. The problem is, the letter does not specify what is considered non-halal, pointed by a parent. I supposed, it is food that contains pork which somehow indicates that Islam in on the move again.

Why? It is because the letter also stated that non-Muslim students are forbidden from using utensils in the canteen and dumping food into waste bins.

I have problem with this. While I have no say on the utensils like forks and spoons since these are owned by the private caterers operating at the canteen, hence not a public property, I find it difficult to accept on the canteen and waste bins. Non-muslim students cannot use the canteen and waste bins?

Canteen is a proper place for students to eat their lunch. Waste bins is a proper place for students to throw the remaining waste or rubbish. These are public properties of the school, since the school is built by using the tax-payers money, and therefore, every students from that school are eligible to use these facilities. And by "students", I mean students in general without the concern of religion.

Tainted with the non-halals

The arguments continued for utensils and waste bins. If a student eats non-halal food with the utensils, it will not be able to be used by Muslim students. The same for waste bins, if the bins contain non-halal wastages, then it will be difficult for the rubbish collector to collect the rubbish.

A letter from Tai Lo Chin to Malaysiakini highlighted this, excerpts:
Just to stretch the argument for consistency, if for example non-Muslim children cannot eat non- halal food or use halal utensils in schools, is there a difference if they have already eaten non- halal food at home, and with morsels of non-hahal food in their mouths or between their teeth, later use halal utensils at the school canteen?

Are they supposes to brush, floss and rinse their teeth before they go to school to make sure they don’t taint the halal forks, spoons and utensils?

Or are they supposed not to eat non-halal food at home as well?

Well pointed. How clean is clean? Does brushing, flossing and rinsing will completely clean up your tainted teeth and smell and turn you back to a halal person?

A letter to Malaysiakini then highlighted the proper way for cleaning these, excerpts:
The way to cleanse this dirt is by cleaning with water seven times and one of these cleaning cycles should also include cleaning with earth.

This is specifically prescribed by Islam as contained in the Hadith.

See, you have to actually wash it seven times with combination of earth or soil. Now, can I ask why seven times? Why cannot be five, six, eight, ten, fourteen, etc... times? It seems to me that washing for seven times (not more or less) will give a magic chant to that instrument to become clean, or halal again?

My question is what's the logic behind this?

Back to waste bins. While I understand the difficulty for the rubbish collector, couldn't the school prepares two separate waste bins where one is for non-halal and another for halal and employ a non-Muslim to collect the non-halal waste bins? I was wondering if the only solution they could think of is to forbid the students from using the waste bins. Do they have any implicit meaning or desire for that?

I could picture that the same would happen if the majority of the Malaysia's population are not from Islam but from other religion. That is to say banning non-majority religion's students from bringing the non-halal food of that majority religion food cause the parents of the non-majority religion to object on it. From here, I believe that forbidding is not a healthy solution for a country with different religious beliefs like Malaysia.

Whenever we multiply a number, x, with any number which is a multiple of 9, and from the resulting number, add each of the result's digit. Repeat the adding process until the number is less than 10. The final result will be 9.

Illustration
Lets say we have a number y, and we multiply it with 9. Imagine we have the result as abcdef. Now add a, b, c, d, e, and f together. If the added number is bigger than 9, repeat the adding process.

71307 x 36 = 2567052 => 27 => 9

I have a million yen today...

Today, I went to a restaurant for lunch as usual. At the cashier front, I ordered a 598yen meal and I did my payment...

*some japanese speech which I don't understand*

The cashier pressed the cash register machine and *woop* a number popped out from the screen. It was the change for my payment, and it read 999,402! Wow, I was waiting for the cashier to give me that amount at that time...

But the cashier drew 402yen to me as my change!

Hey, where's the 999,000yen?! In the receipt, it has printed 1,000,000yen as my pay amount and my change was supposed to be 999,402yen and not 402yen!

Haha, what a day... maybe I will find my 1,000,000yen later today. Well, maybe an extra 100,000yen to my wealth is more than enough.

I pray and will continue to pray for this moment to come true... bless me.

I won't give a share of my cheese

MAS vs AirAsia

MAS - "We can launch a low-cost carrier in six months if the situation merits..."
AirAsia - "We (AirAsia and MAS) should be working together on how we can make Malaysia a much better hub than Singapore, etc..."

That is about what that happens recently in the low-cost (or no-frills) carrier business in Malaysia. When MAS announced that they can launch their own low-cost carrier in six-months, AirAsia Bhd, chief executive officer Tony Fernandes indicated that the statement made by Malaysian Airline System Bhd (MAS) does not has any economic sense.

Fernandes said that if MAS would launch that service, AirAsia will try its best to fight and compete with MAS but indicated that this would be a waste of time and resources.

In spite of thinking to launch its (MAS) low-cost carrier, or LCC, service, MAS should focus on channelling its resources into competing with other established players such as Singapore Airlines. He (Fernandes) stressed out that any move to enter the budget sector would be based purely on business viability and not aimed at destroying the ambitious and successful AirAsia.

How true it is. One thing I don't understand is the reason why MAS would not allow AirAsia to take a share of the business? Why must MAS do everything on their own, trying to act as a Big Brother of that business? Couldn't MAS and AirAsia co-operate to bring a better service to Malaysian as well as the world?

Note: In the past three years, AirAsia has been trying to hold a meeting with MAS but to no avail. The meeting is to discuss on ways to work together to turn Malaysia into an aviation hub.

Effectiveness, is a term that is very important in today's world businesses. Businesses try their best to bring out the most from the available resources. If AirAsia is better in servicing the domestic sector, shouldn't we let AirAsia do so?

AirAsia's ambition

AirAsia's ambitious has grown so fast that it might prove to be a threat to MAS in the future. Not long ago, they have expanded their flight schedule to include Macau. Next month (August, I guess), AirAsia will launch flights to Bandung, Medan, Surabaya, and Bali in Indonesia. This would help to double the number of passengers it carries to four million this year and 7.5 million next year.

In total, AirAsia covers the routes to Thailand, Brunei, Singapore, Macau, and Indonesia. AirAsia will soon, if progressed positively in the next few years, expand its service to cover the Asia region.

MAS's cheese

Based on a report by Sidek Kamiso (theStar), Asia contributes to more than 30% of MAS's group evenue, and assuming that LCCs (not AirAsia alone) take away 5-10% of its market share for that region, this would result in a RM150 million to RM300 million lost in sales annually.

Should MAS do something on this? If yes, then it should be clear enough for their decision on launching their own LCC service. While other main players like Singapore Airlines (SIA), Thai Airways and Air India had also launched their own LCCs, it is not hard to understand why MAS has a plan to own one too.

--If you can't beat them, join them--

As the lowest cost airline in the world, let's see how will AirAsia scratch its head to counter this...

Another round on fireworks...

A better fireworks

Two weeks ago, I blogged about a disappointed fireworks viewing experience. Last Saturday, my friend, Maiko, suggested another fireworks event held in Asakusa, Tokyo. For this one, it fired 15000 shots every year! About two times more than that disappointed one.

This time, we don't have to do any early planning like booking a place to view the fireworks as we will be going to her ex-boss's house to watch the fireworks directly from the roof of the building. Yes, no more trees or any other structures that will block our viewing pleasure.

A BBQ before the fireworks

At the roof of the building, already there were a BBQ party taking place. Before the fireworks started, they ate, and drank with the food that they have bought while talking. We joined the party, however, I was a bit quiet at that time, since I couldn't get what most of them have said and I couldn't express well what I wanted to say, in Japanese.

Suddenly, I was told by Maiko that there is a person who wished to practice talking in English and so she introduced that person to me. Finally, I started talking...

And the fireworks starts

At around 7:30pm (or 1930 in military time), the fireworks started with its first official shot. However, that was not the first shot because there have been a few pre-shots before the official start of the fireworks. At that time, most of the eating and drinking as well as talking stopped and we shifted our attention to the fireworks.

At the same time, a few hundred meters away from that fireworks spot, another official fireworks shot being freed to the air. Yes, there were actually two fireworks spot on that day, happening at the same time with the same amount of shots - 15000 shots.

Knowing the rough amount of Japanese yen being spent on these fireworks, I tried my best to appreciate the design of the fireworks more. Yup, with that mode switched on, I started to have a feeling of thanks and appreciation to those people who prepared the fireworks. I start to understand that the skill in arranging the powder, to produce different fireworks shape, color, etc... are not that easy.

I start to wonder how much effort have been put into producing the phoenix-shaped? firework in the movie Lord Of The Rings - The fellowship of the ring. Ohh, I forgot, it might be a computer graphics's effect.

A lost of concentration

While it was good to be able to see both the fireworks at the same time, I felt a lost of concentration while watching the fireworks. At one time, this one place shot brilliant fireworks, and at other time, the other place did the same. My head kept switching from A to B and B to A.

I know I am complaining too much, and some might wish to kill me instantly...

In between the time, someone walked near with a cup of sake. Well, it wasn't a Japanese sake but a Chinese sake from China. I could tell you instantly that from the smell of that sake, I don't feel like tasting it. However, I did. Just as expected, I wouldn't wish to taste for the second time after that. That sake is just too strong as it instantly makes your body feels hot at the first sip of it. Although Japanese sake also gives the same effect, but I could just say that this Chinese sake is far more stronger.

From then onwards, everytime the wind blew taking with it the smell of that sake into my nose, I will feel sick of it.

The afterwords

After both of the firework events have ended, there was another small event for us. A congratulating event to those who have just gotten married, and those who will be getting married soon.

After the announcement and hand claps, a small cake cutting ceremony completed that day. Then, ice-cream cakes were being distributed to us, but wait I didn't get my share. When the person who distributed the ice-cream cakes walked near to me, I was about to hand out my hands to receive the ice-cream cake, but... phew, luckily I didn't. Well, as a matter of fact, all the males did not get their shares. It was meant for the females to share theirs to the males. I wonder what that means... ;-)

Did I get my share?... さあ~

That meeting ended and we headed home. Reached my apartment at around 1:15am the next day, which is Sunday.
